Literature Text

Well it was that day
We gave birth to the notion
Of flight from our lives
Bathed in troubles too old
For our virgin souls.
We traced a path
Across a map
Built upon a world
Inside an hourglass.

What lightness in me.
We are unearthed,
But my head hurts
From living upside-down.
When buried in grief
Of fates we meet
Too early for
Our young minds to digest,
We often forget gravity.

Our travels learned us
Miles without destination
And recurring threats
Of discovery.
None of us could bear that,
Could we?

But the end is always
Somehow inevitable,
And it found us
Sitting on a bench,
The train a lifetime away.
Our neighbor inquired
As to what we had suffered
To endure the wait.

I said, "I'm sure it must
Have something to do
With our inabilities to forgive."

He nodded,
And with that,
He boarded his last carriage.
written quite a while ago, based on a melody in a dream.

I love this. Especially that first stanza. My word.

Brilliantly written.
